The name \u201cFenggui \u98a8\u6ac3\u201d literally means bellows, which were used to stoke fires in old kitchens, and was so named because the wind the blows on the rocks makes a similar sound. Basalt formations here have been eroded over the centuries by waves, forming a narrow sea cave.<br>Inside the cave, there is a crack in the rock that reaches the land surface. When the tide rises to about seventy percent, the waves rush into the cave, compressing the air and water, which then shoots out through the crack, producing a loud noise. As the waves recede, air is drawn back into the cave through the crack, creating a large inhaling sound that resembles the sound of an old kitchen bellows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 Spring is also a nice time to go, but there is a greater chance of spring showers during that time. The summers may be too hot, and winters too cold and windy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to get to Penghu:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By Plane:&nbsp;<\/strong><br>There are daily flights from Taipei Songshan, Taichung, and Kaohsiung airports to Makung. the flight takes roughly under an hour. Rates can range from around&nbsp;2200-6000 NT&nbsp;for a round trip. There are also flights to and from Chiayi, Tainan, Kinmen, and Chimei, with charted flights to Hong Kong starting&nbsp;September 2018.<br>There are flights to and from Taipei Songshan Airport three times a day via&nbsp;Uni Air. I really wanted to visit on my first visit to Penghu, but there was just not enough time. However, we were able to visit the second time. There were tons of people when we visited. It is one of the most popular scenic spots around, and it should definitely be on your list during your next trip to Penghu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.rersczyr.a2hosted.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/penghu2.04-83-2048x1365.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3205\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the way there, we saw this strange decoration on someone&#8217;s house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.rersczyr.a2hosted.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/penghu2.04-59-2048x1365.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3204\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>View of the sea cave area. As you can see, there were tons of people there. The area seems to have recently been renovated with new cement steps and a tower. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.rersczyr.a2hosted.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/penghu2.04-61-2048x1365.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3206\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are also lots of local fishermen who like to hang out here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.rersczyr.a2hosted.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/penghu2.04-60-2048x1365.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3207\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>From here you can see Tongpan Island and Hujing Island in the distance, which are small sparsely populated islands.<br>Unfortunately, we did not hear the wind rustling when we went, and there were tons of people.
