There was no large-scale Dutch or Chinese settlement in the area during the Dutch rule of Taiwan.<br>During the Qing Dynasty, Chinese settlers began to settle the area and start farming, and many of them planted peach trees, which is how Taoyuan got its name.<br>During the Japanese Era, Taoyuan City was planned and developed.\u00a0<br>Under the ROC, Taoyuan County was established in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Taoyuan,_Taiwan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1950<\/a>, and later Taoyuan City was made the county seat. In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Taoyuan,_Taiwan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2014<\/a>, Taoyuan City and Taoyuan County were combined into the special municipality of Taoyuan City.<br>\u200bTaoyuan International Airport was completed in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Taoyuan_International_Airport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1979<\/a>\u00a0and is Taiwan&#8217;s largest airport.\u00a0<br>Toayuan has a population of over\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Taoyuan,_Taiwan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2.2 million<\/a>\u00a0and is one of the fastest-growing populations in Taiwan due to the low cost of living and proximity to Taipei.\u00a0\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Basic Taoyuan Travel Tips:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There is no need to tip in Taiwan.
